You will have to put a bit of pressure on the outside of the sprocket cover opposite the mechanism. WebTo rectify this problem, you can remove the cover from the drive case, the chain, and the bar. Then use a small screwdriver to clean the grooves. In the case of smaller areas, a piece of wire would do a much better job. Look out for nicks and with a file flatten them out, using strokes that are perpendicular to the flank of the bar.

WebThe spring will probably help braking by reducing the force necessary to engage the brake. To reset the spring just push the chain break all the way forward.
